Ray Chidell MA (Cantab) is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He launched Claritax Books Ltd in September 2011.
After qualifying as a “fully trained” tax inspector, Ray worked in the accounting profession for 14 years, including six as a tax partner with Mazars. He also worked as a senior technical author for CCH for eight years, writing much of their top level tax commentary.
Ray has written on capital allowances – where he is recognised as one of the UK’s leading authorities – for many years. CCH formerly published some 20 different editions of his books but his titles are now written exclusively for Claritax Books. His technical writing grew mainly out of experience in advising family businesses and he always writes from practical experience, but with commentary that is built on sound statutory principles.
Ray has had tax articles published in more than 20 different journals, and he is on the editorial advisory board for Tax Adviser. He has also lectured on capital allowances for the CIOT and for many others.
Alongside his writing and publishing work, Ray is a technical director with Six Forward Capital Allowances. Six Forward builds long term relationships with accountants of all sizes, providing a complete package of practical but statutory-based support on all capital allowances matters.
